Biostimulants to Improved Tree Physiology and Fruit Quality: A Review with Special Focus on Sweet Cherry

Due to the increasing global population and continued need sustainably increase agricultural production, sector requires innovative strategies productivity efficiency in use of resources. Biostimulants have emerged as new, promising, environmentally friendly products promote overall sustainability production systems. Humic fulvic acids, protein hydrolysates, seaweed extracts, chitosan other biopolymers, inorganic compounds, beneficial fungi, bacteria are widely accepted categories biostimulants, with proven potential improving plant growth, crop quality final product. Some them also capacity enhance nutrient uptake improve stress tolerance crop. Sweet cherry is a highly appreciated fruit, significant economic value, linked yield attributes influencing consumer acceptability. However, this fruit presents several undesirable characteristics, such physiological disorders (e.g., cracking) short shelf-life. Several approaches used not only sweet but quality, latest efforts being placed biostimulants. The present review focuses on most recent findings biostimulants production.
